Dear Friend of the Tanner Humanities Center,

In July 2019, I began my tenure as the Director of The Tanner Humanities Center. Under my leadership, we launched Tanner Talks, a new public humanities engagement program that promotes inquiry and exchange on topics of equity, technology, the environment, and well-being. We continued our commitment to educational enrichment and academic research. In March 2020, however, everything changed when we were confronted with the global pandemic. Now, we are adapting to unprecedented changes and new challenges.

I believe we need the core skills developed through Humanities engagement now more than ever. We at Tanner Humanities aim to learn to solve complex problems with creativity, make sense of cultural trends and changes, build our capacity for empathy and hope, cultivate connections to one another and our global community, and practice effective communication. Until we can gather together in person to engage with the Humanities and with each other, I invite you to join us for our virtual Tanner Talks, COVID-19 Town Halls, and an AI & Technology Book Club. I also ask you to support the Center’s 2021 programs. Your gift will ensure that the Humanities play a key role in keeping us connected and helping us understand and navigate these challenging times.

Thank you for your generosity!
